Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation; we are in essence a volunteer organisation with a small staff whose purpose is to facilitate the work of volunteers. Volunteers are responsible for running in-prison programs - which help inmates develop character and turn their lives around - and they're the ones inmates turn to for support and friendship during challenging times.
We currently have volunteers in more than 60 prisons across Australia. A number of these prisons - across multiple states - are requesting more PFA volunteers to meet with inmates and/or run new or additional programs. We also have opportunities to work in prisons where we've never been before, or are just starting to work - including in Alice Springs (NT) and the Pilbara region (WA).Responding to these opportunities will allow us to reach a new cohort of prisoners who've never received such support.
